Sail Tell-Tales Set, Self-Adhesive, Black (8x)

These self-adhesive sail tell-tales are the simplest way to trim your sail correctly and always sail right on the edge of the wind. The set contains 8 black tell-tales for mainsail, jib or spinnaker.

How to use tell-tales

• Correctly trimmed: the tell-tales on both sides of the sail stream evenly (parallel).
• Sailing too high or sail too eased: the windward tell-tales flutter and lift.
• Sailing too low or sail over-sheeted: the leeward tell-tales flutter and lift.
• On a fixed course, trim the sail by the tell-tales; upwind, steer the boat by them.

Checking the jib lead position

• Sheet the headsail in: opposite tell-tales should stream parallel at all heights.
• Lead too far aft: the top windward or bottom leeward tell-tale lifts.
• Lead too far forward: the top leeward or bottom windward tell-tale lifts.

Fitting

• Make sure the sail is clean and dry.
• Fit the tell-tales in pairs, back to back on both sides of the sail.
• 3–4 pairs per headsail are recommended, evenly spaced about 30 cm behind the luff.
