Mainsail - Goodall Design Akurra by Kangaroo Sails

Our Formula 18 mainsail is the crown jewel of the Kangaroo Sails regatta series. This mainsail became a success magnet for regatta sailors through the perfect fusion of over 20 years of sailing experience and countless hours on the water.

Last year, the F18 Decksweeper mainsail from Kangaroo Sails conquered almost all of the domestic regattas in Germany. A performance proof of which we are very proud.

We offer two variants of our mainsail:

1. Beach: For the relaxed leisure sailor, this model is characterized by its radial cut with 4 panels from the head, 10 panels from the sheet, and one panel along the luff. The batten pockets are made of white Dacron, with the option of the lower panels being made of window film. A multicolor cut is available for a colorful appearance. Flat reinforcements provide additional stability.
2. Hightech/Decksweeper: The high-tech sail is a standard sail, without a decksweeper. However, the profile and the sail panels between high-tech and decksweeper do not differ. Perfectly designed for the regatta sailor, this model is characterized by its radial cut with 6 panels from the head, 11 panels from the sheet, and one panel along the luff. The optimal profile is achieved by using more panels in the head, foot, and luff. Batten pockets made from the same fabric as the sail, windows, and multicolor design options complete the offer. Flat, full-area glued reinforcements ensure a robust structure.

In addition, you can choose from three fabric variants:

1. Pentex: Ideal for regatta and leisure sailing. This laminate consists of three layers, with the core layer made of Pentex fibers, providing excellent strength and shape stability at low weight. The outer layers are made of Mylar foils, which are glued under pressure.
2. Mylar: This variant has the same structure as Pentex but uses polyester fibers.
3. Dacron: A woven sailcloth made from polyester fibers. Dacron offers a pleasant handling and long durability.
