AHPC Capricorn Mainsail - Kangaroo Sails

The AHPC Capricorn mainsail from Kangaroo Sails is made for your Goodall Design Formula 18 catamaran. Choose between the Beach cut for leisure sailors, the Hightech cut for racing and a Decksweeper version; the sail can be supplied measured on request.

The cuts

• Beach (leisure sailors): radial cut from the head and clew, 4 panels from the head, 10 from the clew and 1 panel along the luff. Flat, horizontal reinforcements; batten pockets in white Dacron.
• Hightech (racing sailors): radial cut with more panels – 6 from the head, 11 from the clew, 1 along the luff. The cloth is better aligned with the loads in the sail and the profile is improved. Reinforcements cut flat and fully bonded; batten pockets in the same cloth as the sail.
• Decksweeper: further cut option. On a Decksweeper the foot reaches down to just above the trampoline (usually with a curved boom): sail and trampoline act like an end plate, reducing the tip vortices along the foot for better pointing and speed upwind. Widely used in racing since the 2017 F18 Worlds.

Cloths

• Dacron (white): woven polyester cloth with good handling and a long life.
• Pentex (black, smoke, white, silver): a three-layer laminate for racing and cruising sailors – Pentex fibres in the core for high strength and shape stability at low weight, Mylar film on both sides, bonded under pressure.
• Mylar (smoke, white, blue, green, red): built like Pentex, with polyester fibres.
