Dart 20 Mainsail - Kangaroo Sails

Kangaroo Sails makes the Dart 20 mainsail to your configuration. The Beach cut is tailored to leisure sailors, the Hightech cut with extra panels to racers, and a Decksweeper cut is also available. Cloth and colour, window and battens complete your choice.

Sail cuts

• Beach – leisure sailors: panels radiating from the head and clew, 4 from the head, 10 from the clew and 1 along the luff. Flat, horizontal reinforcements; batten pockets in white Dacron.
• Hightech – racing sailors: 6 panels from the head, 11 from the clew and 1 along the luff. The higher panel count lets the cloth follow the loads in the sail more closely and makes the profile more precise. Flat-cut, fully bonded reinforcements; batten pockets in the sailcloth.
• Decksweeper – further cut option. On a Decksweeper the foot reaches down to just above the trampoline (usually with a curved boom): sail and trampoline act like an end plate, reducing the tip vortices along the foot for better pointing and speed upwind. Widely used in racing since the 2017 F18 Worlds.

Materials

• Dacron, white: woven polyester cloth – easy to handle, long-lasting.
• Pentex, in black, smoke, white or silver: a three-layer composite for racing and cruising sailors. The Pentex fibre core gives the cloth high strength and shape stability at low weight; the outer layers are Mylar film.
• Mylar, in smoke, white, blue, green or red: built like Pentex, but with polyester fibres.
