Dart 15 Mainsail - Kangaroo Sails

We build the Dart 15 mainsail from Kangaroo Sails in the version that suits your sailing: Beach cut for leisure sailors, Hightech cut for racers, or as a Decksweeper. Choose the cloth and colour, window and battens to go with it.

Sail cuts

• Beach – for leisure sailors: radial cut from the head and clew with 4 panels from the head, 10 from the clew and 1 panel along the luff. Flat, horizontal reinforcements; batten pockets in white Dacron.
• Hightech – for racing sailors: radial cut with 6 panels from the head, 11 from the clew and 1 along the luff. The extra panels align the cloth better with the loads in the sail and improve the profile. Reinforcements cut flat and fully bonded; batten pockets in the same cloth as the sail.
• Decksweeper – available as a further cut option. On a Decksweeper the foot reaches down to just above the trampoline (usually with a curved boom): sail and trampoline act like an end plate, reducing the tip vortices along the foot for better pointing and speed upwind. Widely used in racing since the 2017 F18 Worlds.

• Window: lower panels in window film (Beach and Hightech)

• Battens: none, with battens, or battens for the Decksweeper (DS)

Sailcloth

• Dacron in white: woven polyester cloth with good handling and a long life.
• Pentex in black, smoke, white, silver or red: a three-layer laminate for racing and cruising sailors. The Pentex fibre core gives high strength and shape stability at low weight, the outer layers are Mylar film, all bonded under pressure.
• Mylar in white, blue or green: a laminate built like Pentex, but with polyester fibres.
