Topcat F2 Jib - Kangaroo Sails

The Topcat F2 jib from Kangaroo Sails comes in three cuts that differ in panel layout and therefore in how they are used: Easy for leisure sailors, Beach for leisure and club racing, and Hightech for racing sailors. Cloth, battens, window and Qbond are matched to your Topcat F2.

Sail cuts

• Easy – in durable white Dacron. Panels at right angles to the leech, giving few seams that can fail and an economical build. Flat, horizontal reinforcements; window possible.
• Beach – radial cut from the head, tack and clew: 2 panels from the head, 6 from the tack and clew. The panels are aligned with the loads in the sail and there are only a few seams. Window-film panels possible. Radial reinforcements.
• Hightech – radial cut with more panels: 3 from the head, 6 from the clew, 1 from the tack. The cloth is matched even better to the loads and the profile can be set more finely. Reinforcements cut radially and fully bonded; window film possible.

Options

• Window: no or yes
• Battens: full-length, for a furling system, or straight battens
• Qbond option (yes or no): the panels are joined with the patented Q-Bond process, bonded under high pressure instead of stitched – no needle holes, so the sail is lighter, holds its shape better and lasts longer.

Cloths

• Dacron (white): woven polyester cloth, easy to handle and long-lasting.
• Pentex (black, smoke, white, silver): a laminate for racing and cruising sailors with a Pentex fibre core and two Mylar films, bonded under pressure – high strength and shape stability at low weight.
• Mylar (smoke, blue, white, green, red): laminate like Pentex, with polyester fibres.
