Nacra 5.7 Jib - Kangaroo Sails

Kangaroo Sails, the sail brand of Sven Lindstädt Segeltechnik, makes the Nacra 5.7 jib in three cuts: Easy for leisure sailors, Beach for leisure and club racing, and Hightech for racing. You adapt the cloth, colour, battens, window and Qbond option to your Nacra 5.7.

Sail cuts in detail

• Easy: made from durable white Dacron. The panels run at right angles to the leech, which keeps the number of seams that can fail low and the build economical. Flat, horizontal reinforcements.
• Beach: radial cut from the head, tack and clew with 2 panels from the head and 6 from the tack and clew. The cloth is aligned with the loads in the sail and there are only a few seams. Radial reinforcements.
• Hightech: radial cut with 3 panels from the head, 6 from the clew and 1 from the tack. The larger number of panels aligns the cloth better with the loads and allows a finer profile. Reinforcements cut radially and fully bonded.

Options

• Window or window-film panels with all three cuts
• Battens: full-length, for a furling system, or straight
• Qbond option (yes or no): the panels are joined with the patented Q-Bond process, bonded under high pressure instead of stitched – no needle holes, so the sail is lighter, holds its shape better and lasts longer.

Sailcloth

• Dacron (white): woven polyester sailcloth, easy to handle and long-lasting.
• Pentex (black, smoke, white, silver): three-layer laminate for racing and cruising – a Pentex fibre core for high strength and shape stability at low weight, Mylar film outside, bonded under pressure.
• Mylar (smoke, blue, white, green, red): laminate like Pentex, but with polyester fibres.
