Nacra 5.5 Jib - Kangaroo Sails

With the Nacra 5.5 jib from Kangaroo Sails, your catamaran gets a new headsail built to your specification. You decide whether it should be the robust Easy cut, the versatile Beach cut or the Hightech cut for racing, and choose the cloth, colour, battens and window to go with it.

Three cuts

• Easy – for leisure sailors: panels at right angles to the leech in durable white Dacron. The low panel count means few seams that can fail and an economical build. Flat, horizontal reinforcements.
• Beach – for leisure and club racing sailors: radial cut with panels from the head, tack and clew (2 from the head, 6 from the tack and clew). The cloth is aligned with the loads in the sail, and the sail has few seams. Radial reinforcements.
• Hightech – for racing sailors: radial cut with 3 panels from the head, 6 from the clew and 1 from the tack. The extra panels give an even better match to the loads and a finer profile. Reinforcements cut radially and fully bonded.

Cloth choice

• Dacron in white: woven polyester sailcloth, easy to handle and long-lasting.
• Pentex in black, smoke, white or silver: laminate for racing and cruising. Three layers are bonded under pressure – Pentex fibres in the core for high strength and shape stability at low weight, Mylar film on both sides.
• Mylar in smoke, blue, white, green or red: the same construction as Pentex, but with polyester fibres.

Options

• Window-film panels with all cuts
• Battens: full-length, for a furling system, or straight
• Qbond option (yes or no): the panels are joined with the patented Q-Bond process, bonded under high pressure instead of stitched – no needle holes, so the sail is lighter, holds its shape better and lasts longer.
