Product information "Nacra 5.2 Jib - Kangaroo Sails"

Kangaroo Sails makes the Nacra 5.2 jib in three cuts aimed at leisure sailors, club racers and regatta sailors. Together with the choice of cloths, colours, battens and an optional window, you put together the right headsail for your Nacra 5.2.

Cut options

  • Easy (leisure) – durable white Dacron, panels at right angles to the leech. Few panels give few seams that can fail and an economical build. Flat, horizontal reinforcements.
  • Beach (leisure and club racing) – panels radiate from the head, tack and clew, 2 from the head and 6 from the tack and clew. This aligns the cloth with the loads in the sail while keeping seams to a minimum. Radial reinforcements.
  • Hightech (racing) – radial, with 3 panels from the head, 6 from the clew and 1 from the tack. More panels follow the loads better and allow finer profiling. Reinforcements cut radially and fully bonded.

Options

  • Window: window-film panels possible with all three cuts
  • Battens: full-length, for a furling system, or straight
  • Qbond option (yes or no): the panels are joined with the patented Q-Bond process, bonded under high pressure instead of stitched – no needle holes, so the sail is lighter, holds its shape better and lasts longer.

Sailcloth

  • White Dacron – woven polyester cloth, easy handling, long service life
  • Pentex black, smoke, white, silver – laminate for racing and cruising: three layers, a Pentex fibre core and Mylar films, bonded under pressure; high strength and shape stability at low weight
  • Mylar smoke, blue, white, green, red – same construction as Pentex, with polyester fibres
