Hobie FX One Jib - Kangaroo Sails

The Hobie FX One jib from Kangaroo Sails can be matched precisely to how you sail: Easy for leisure sailing, Beach for leisure and club racing, Hightech for racing. You then pick the cloth and colour, the batten type and whether a window should be fitted.

Cuts for the Hobie FX One

• Easy: leisure cut in durable white Dacron. The panels run at right angles to the leech, which leaves only a few seams that can fail and keeps the build economical. Flat, horizontal reinforcements.
• Beach: radial cut with panels from the head, tack and clew (2 from the head, 6 from the tack and clew) for leisure and club racing sailors. The cloth follows the loads in the sail, with only a few seams. Radial reinforcements.
• Hightech: radial racing cut with 3 panels from the head, 6 from the clew and 1 from the tack. More panels mean a better match to the loads and finer profiling. Reinforcements cut radially and fully bonded.

Configuration

• Cloth: white Dacron, Pentex (black, smoke, white, silver), Mylar (smoke, blue, white, green, red)
• Window: yes or no
• Battens: full-length, for a furling system, or straight
• Qbond option (yes or no): the panels are joined with the patented Q-Bond process, bonded under high pressure instead of stitched – no needle holes, so the sail is lighter, holds its shape better and lasts longer.

About the cloths

• Dacron is a woven polyester sailcloth that is easy to handle and long-lasting.
• Pentex is a laminate of three layers bonded under pressure: Pentex fibres in the core give high strength and shape stability at low weight, with Mylar film outside. Suitable for racing and cruising.
• Mylar has the same construction as Pentex but uses polyester fibres.
