Product information "Hobie 21 Jib - Kangaroo Sails"
For the Hobie 21, Kangaroo Sails supplies a jib that you configure for the way you use the boat. You can choose from three sail cuts for leisure, club racing and racing, three types of cloth in several colours, and various batten and window options.
Cut options
- Easy, the leisure cut: durable white Dacron with panels at right angles to the leech. The small number of panels keeps the number of seams that can fail low and the build economical. Flat, horizontal reinforcements.
- Beach, for leisure and club racing sailors: radial cut with panels from the head, tack and clew – 2 from the head, 6 from the tack and clew. The cloth is matched to the loads in the sail, and the sail has few seams. Radial reinforcements.
- Hightech, for racing sailors: radial cut with 3 panels from the head, 6 from the clew and 1 from the tack. The higher panel count gives an even better match to the loads and a finer profile. Radial, fully bonded reinforcements.
Equipment
- Window-film panels: possible with all three cuts
- Battens: full-length, for a furling system, or straight
- Qbond option (yes or no): the panels are joined with the patented Q-Bond process, bonded under high pressure instead of stitched – no needle holes, so the sail is lighter, holds its shape better and lasts longer.
Cloth choice
- White Dacron – woven polyester cloth, easy handling, long life
- Pentex black, smoke, white or silver – three-layer laminate for racing and cruising with a Pentex fibre core and Mylar film outside, bonded under pressure; high strength and shape stability at low weight
- Mylar smoke, blue, white, green or red – laminate like Pentex, but with polyester fibres
